I want to express my deepest appreciation for the quality French language training I got at CERAN Provence. Individual and small group lessons and interaction provided by professional and dedicated teachers, language materials that are simple and calibrated as building bricks of the language, a 24 hour open language lab with the able guidance of trainers, evening group programs and sorties that forced one to utilize what learned and improvise as well, a home-like atmosphere with teachers and staff always there patiently, untiringly guiding them with the language as they chat, eat and exchange experiences and ideas with them ... all these combined provided a total immersion into the language and culture that helped me acquire the base, the take off point in the French language in an incredibly short time. Not all that was learned was immediately absorbed; I am realising the full benefit of what I acquired in CERAN as I continue to interact and work in the French language in a Francophone country. My profound thanks and commendation to the program, and most importantly the untiring and able staff of CERAN in Avignon.

As a native English speaker who had not studied French since high school, I found the CERAN experience to be profoundly helpful. The multi-level approach to teaching involving private and group lessons, group conversations at every opportunity, and self-paced aural study, worked very well for me. Prior to the Ceran course, I had learned the equivalent of two years of College level German. I had a limited vocabulary and still struggled with reading and speaking. The Ceran course through its unique instructional method and total immersion significantly improved my ability to converse in German. The pedagogical program was FABULOUS. I don't know exactly what this was like for the kids but they made wonderful progress. For myself, I loved the structure, the immersion, the instructors were great, as I said above I think this is a very well developed program, extremely well thought out and "on purpose", and everything is designed to enhance the ability of the participants to soak up as much of the target language as possible. The breaks, the after dinner programs, the lab, the study hall, the writing assignments, the question and answer approach, the way the tutorial hour(s) synchronize with the morning lessons, etc. I am totally satisfied with the program on site. I found myself dreaming at night in my target language. I'd say that's pretty successful. I was much more able to communicate in Paris the following two weeks.

The French class CERAN Provence is like going on an enjoyable retreat where you are immersed in French. It is a great learning environment because the teachers and members of the CERAN community are friendly, supportive and helpful. Because the classes are small, the teachers work closely and attentively with students: within the framework of a class, they address the needs of individual students. I learned a lot in each class and had the opportunity to continue using new material the whole day. For that reason, I improved my French in less than a week.

We did have some classes in Grammar, but they were based on practical examples, with no English translation, and mostly the concepts were explained by "comparison", repeated ad infinitum, until all became clear and easy to remember. There was no pressure to "remember or translate" but essentially using the English language was prohibited. (…)

I have used the Ceran Lingua program on the different occasions for a total of 5 weeks immersion time. In my life I have studied in a number of intensive immersion program, 12 weeks total to date, as well as attended numerous small group size classes etc for multiple languages. I can honestly state that the Ceran Lingua method, through the varying methods (1-4 student class size), individual focus, language lab programs and conversational exposure with the variety inspired by the rotation of individuals leads to the fastest and most rewarding progress in a language for the time committed. In short, I find it to be the most effective program anywhere in the world I have encountered. I would recommend the Ceran Lingua program for anybody with a serious interest in learning a language, no matter what knowledge level.

Ceran offered my husband and myself an excellent way to kick-start our stay in France. After two weeks, we were able to understand more than we ever could after years of high-school French. And although the days are intense, the teachers have a delightful way of combining real learning with much humor. And the other students are also an essential part of the experience. The first week, we met people from England who will remain friends for life. And in the second week, although there were only 5 students, four continents were represented. It is truly an international experience within the confines of a small town outside of Avignon. And although it was easier to gain weight than learn French ( the cook is fabulous), we highly recommend Ceran Provence, and hope to continue our study there in years to come.

To rate the CERAN program, I'd be foolin' you if I gave it anything less than perfect marks. Daniel, as my beginner level teacher, was AWESOME and I know the other three beginners felt the same way. Given the challenging nature of the class, he remained very patient and was willing to answer any questions I had (even if I had to ask in English) and it was obvious he enjoys what he does. He made learning very enjoyable. I was really impressed with how much material they sent us home with, including the Speed Lingua course and additional levels of computer lab material, and other homework based on my progress during the two weeks. So, the course was great. I honestly enjoyed everything about it, the teachers, the structure, my fellow students and even the frustration.
