In the lush Belgian Ardennes in the town of Spa, immerse yourself in the French language at CERAN, one of the world’s leading residential language schools.

This intensive two-week full immersion language program includes language training in the morning with afternoons and weekends dedicated to excursions in Brussels, Bruges, Bastogne and Liege.

Ventures into the surrounding area unveil the cultural heritage of the region and provide opportunities to further your language skills as you converse with local residents.

Road Scholar

The Road Scholar at CERAN Belgium program is a two-week program of complete immersion and intensive language training for anyone who is highly motivated in making major progress in French and discovering Belgium. The program has been developed specifically for seniors but anyone over 21 years old is welcomed to enroll.

Road Scholar is the name for the programs developed and offered by Elderhostel, Inc., the not-for-profit world leader in lifelong learning and educational travel since 1975. Our mission is to empower adults to explore the world’s places, peoples, cultures and ideas, and in so doing to discover more about themselves. A fellowship of learning and the joy of discovery are the hallmarks of the Road Scholar experience.

Highlights

The program

The two-week program includes:

• 15 half-days of language lessons (in groups of no more than 6 participants) and writing workshops
• Continuous practice of French during breaks and meals with instructors
• Field Trips to Spa, the Thermal Baths, the Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery and Memorial and Herve
• A Belgian cooking class and a nature walk in the Ardennes Forest
• Excursions to Bastogne, Liege, Brussels and Bruges
• Theme evenings: Belgian beer tasting, chocolate tasting, Tintin and Belgian comic strips
