CERAN Junior Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.)
Programs
Language program, levels and application process
How many days last the CERAN JUNIOR language immersion programs?
You decide! Our programs are organized by weekly modules. When sessions are open (check dates here), programs start every Sunday afternoon. For best results, we recommend students to stay 2 to 3 weeks.
Please note that if you are at the beginner level in the language studied, you have to start on specific dates (mentioned here).
Is there a minimum level required to attend a CERAN JUNIOR language immersion program?
No. CERAN JUNIOR is open to students at all levels. During classes, groups are of course composed based on the levels of the students. There is always a maximum of 9 students per class.
However, please note that beginner students are required to start their program at specific dates (mentioned here).
What is the deadline for applications?
There is no deadline. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until classes are filled. To apply for a program, fill out our online registration form as soon as you can, as our classes fill out quickly, especially those being held during the summer months.
Sports, leisure activities and weekends
Are students of different age groups mixed during activities?
Usually not. We try to keep age groups (10-12, 13-15, 16-18) as separate as we can during the program: that means not only during classes but also during sport and leisure activities, evening activities, etc.
Bedtimes vary according to the age group so students of different age groups are accommodated in different sections of the centers.
What sports and leisure activities are offered?
As that answer is specific for each center, we encourage you to visit each center's web page. To start with, click on the language you want to study on the top right hand side of this page and then select "Center Programs" from the blue menu.
What is the program of excursions at weekends?
Excursions and activties outside the center are organized during weekends for students who are staying more than one week (the weekend between two weeks of classes is considered as part of the program).
Excursions are different from one weekend to the other, as we have to take into account that some students spend 2 to 3 weekends with us. Usually, at least one visit to a nearby town where people speak the language being studied is included, as well as one "fun" outing, such as a day at a theme park, bowling, etc. For more information, please visit each center's web page.
The program of excursions is established a few months before the session starts. If you want to check whether the program is established at any point, please call us at 1-866-72-CERAN so that we check the status of it.
Facilities and supervision
Is there an adult staying with the students at night?
The presence of staff members 24 hours a day ensures total safety. There is one adult sleeping in each section of the CERAN center.
Do students have access to internet and phone to keep in touch with their parents?
Yes. There are public phones available at the school and students can buy phone cards to call their parents. As the schedule is very intense and there can be many students at the same time at the center, we recommend students calling their parents rather than the opposite.
Are cell phone, iPods and other electronic devices allowed?
How are transfers (from airport/train station) organized?
