Overview    

We founded Sherbourne Priors in England's historic heartland to provide the ideal peaceful setting for your complete immersion in the English language and culture while remaining easily accessible by road, rail and air. For your weekends, our central location in rural Warwickshire means we can offer you a wealth of English history and culture on our doorstep including Shakespeare's birthplace in Stratford-upon-Avon, Britain's finest medieval castle in Warwick and the university city of Oxford.

With the constant support of our native-speaking teachers along with the use of English television and press materials, you will be working exclusively in the target language throughout your stay. Come and join us! We have but one aim: to share with you our passion for communicating in English.

 

Accommodation    

The rates indicated in our price lists include either single room accommodation at the center (with shower and/or bath and WC) or accommodation of a comparable standard at a local hotel (depending on availability). If you are seeking a higher standard of comfort, some rooms of a superior quality are available either at the center or at selected local hotels and can be reserved for a supplementary charge. We ask students who are staying at a hotel to please come to the reception at Sherbourne Priors first to check in.

Your room:

All of our standard rooms have a single bed and are equipped with a television and a cd player. Our comfort rooms have a double bed and are equipped with a television and dvd/cd player. There is a credit card/coin-operated payphone in the center and wireless internet access is available throughout the building and gardens. All bedrooms have bathroom and WC en suite.

Special rates: 15% reduction for your partner if you study at the same time at the same CERAN center.

 

New digital language lab

January 2006 - For your convenience, there are now 16 computer workstations in the laboratory, each with wireless internet access and access to the Speedlingua software. Over the next few months all TVs and video recorders, in the classrooms will be replaced by media center computers. This means that we can improve our resources and the quality of recordings, and store a large amount of material that can be easily accessed by teachers for use in lessons.

Key sentences are now recorded onto the computer in each classroom and can be accessed by students on computer in the language laboratory. At the end of your stay, your key sentences will be burned onto a CD for you to take home and continue practicing with. Switching to CDs, CD-Roms and DVDs will improve the sound and visual quality of the materials we use. So all in all, is a great step forward into the 21st century!

 

Transfers   

Our Customer Service Department can organise your transport to the center from Birmingham International Airport, London Heathrow or London Gatwick (any other transfer requirements are available on request).

  • London Heathrow Airport (about 1 ½ hours ) : 185 €
  • London Gatwick Airport ( about 2 ½ hours ) : 185€
  • Birmingham Airport (about ½ hour ) : 50 €

They can also provide information on train and coach services. If you choose to arrive by car, you will find us just off Junction 15 of the M40 motorway (London to Birmingham). At Junction 15 take the A46 South to Stratford. After 200m take the first turning left (Watery Lane). SHERBOURNE PRIORS is the last property on the right. There are parking facilities at the center.

We strongly recommend that you arrive at the center on Sunday between 5.00 and 7.00 p.m.

In order to book your transfer, please advise the CERAN center of your time of arrival at the airport. You will then receive written confirmation of your transport details. You will be met at the airport and driven to the Sherbourne Priors center. Upon your departure, you will be driven to the airport.


Weekends & Leisure   

At the center :

Courses run until 6:15 p.m. on Friday evening. There is no dinner at the center Friday evening but we can arrange dinner for you at a recommended, local restaurant.  
At the weekend you are welcome to stay at the center at a supplement. Bed and breakfast is provided on Saturday and Sunday.

You will be asked to indicate your wishes on the annex confirming your CERAN stay

During the weekend you are free to explore the local region or to go further if you wish. However, there is no need to go far, as Britain’s finest mediaeval castle in Warwick is only 3km away, and Shakespeare’s birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon, is only 10km away. You could:

  • visit the 5 Shakespeare houses in and around Stratford by joining the Stratford bus tour.
  • watch a play at one of the 3 Royal Shakespeare Company theatres.
  • visit one or two of the traditional 16th century pubs.
  • explore Warwick Castle and its grounds - an absolute must.
  • visit the university city of Oxford, which is only 45 minutes by train.
  • go to London, with regular trains taking you right to the centre in only 1 hour 45 minutes.

Sports facilities :

At Sherbourne Priors there is a wide range of sports facilities in and outside the grounds that our customer service team will have pleas.

There is a range of sports available both in and out of the grounds, and our customer service team will be happy to help you to organise. At Sherbourne Priors we have a snooker table. You may also walk or jog in the grounds. There are facilities for horse riding, badminton, golf, swimming, tennis and cycling as well as a gym nearby.
